SharkJaw genuine spare parts keep your shark jaw and towing pin systems operating at rated capacity throughout the vessel’s service life. Using factory-sourced parts ensures dimensional and material compliance with the original class-approved design — which matters for safety-critical deck equipment operating at high load in offshore conditions.

Jaw Insert Plates are the primary wear items in a shark jaw system. Manufactured from quenched and tempered alloy steel with a hardness optimised for abrasion resistance against anchor chain, they are available in the full range of chain diameter profiles across all SJ models. Most vessels replace insert plates every 12–24 months depending on chain type and operating cycle frequency.

Seals & O-Rings — complete seal kits for hydraulic cylinders, rotary actuators, and manifold block assemblies are available by equipment model. Kits are pre-packaged with all seals required for a full cylinder overhaul and are labelled by position to simplify assembly.

Pins & Bushings — load-bearing pivot pins and replaceable bronze bushings for shark jaw hinge points and towing pin base assemblies. These components are inspected during annual surveys and typically replaced every 3–5 years depending on load history.

Hydraulic Valves & Hoses — solenoid valves, pressure relief valves, and quick-release valve assemblies are supplied as complete sub-assemblies for straightforward exchange. Hydraulic hoses are available in standard lengths and can be custom-fabricated to vessel-specific routing dimensions.

Control Panel Components — PLC modules, solenoid coils, limit switches, and indicator lamps for the deck control and wheelhouse remote panels. Stocked for all current production models and available for most equipment manufactured from 2018 onwards.

All parts are dispatched with a material traceability document. Class-witnessed inspection and certification is available on request for insert plates and structural pins destined for vessels under survey.

Spare Parts & Components — FAQ

How do I confirm which parts are compatible with my specific equipment?

All SharkJaw equipment is supplied with a numbered parts list in the operation and maintenance manual. The parts list identifies every serviceable component by item number, description, material specification, and quantity per assembly. When ordering, provide your equipment model number (e.g., SJ-300), serial number (found on the nameplate), and the item number from your parts list. If you do not have the original documentation, contact us with the model and serial number and we will retrieve the parts list from our manufacturing records.

What are the typical lead times for spare parts?

Jaw insert plates, seal kits, and filter elements for standard models (SJ-100 through SJ-300, TP-100 through TP-300) are held in stock and can be dispatched within 5–7 business days. Pins, bushings, and hydraulic valve assemblies for standard models are usually available within 2–3 weeks. Parts for larger or non-standard models (SJ-400 to SJ-700, TP-400 to TP-500) may require 4–6 weeks if not in stock. For vessels on a scheduled dry-dock or maintenance programme, we recommend raising parts orders at least 8 weeks in advance to guarantee availability.

Can I use third-party parts instead of SharkJaw genuine parts?

We strongly recommend using genuine SharkJaw parts for safety-critical components — specifically jaw insert plates, main pivot pins, and hydraulic quick-release valve assemblies. These components are manufactured to tighter tolerances than general market equivalents and are the basis of the class-approved design. Using non-genuine parts in these positions may void the class certificate and could affect the equipment's holding capacity under load. For consumable items such as O-rings, filter elements, and general hydraulic fittings, off-the-shelf equivalents are acceptable provided they match the specified material, pressure rating, and dimensional standard.
