How the Certification Process Works

We handle classification society coordination as a standard part of every order. No additional project management required from your team.

Specify Classification Society

Indicate your required classification society when submitting your inquiry. Include vessel name, IMO number (if applicable), and any existing class notation requirements.

Design Review Coordination

SharkJaw coordinates with the classification society for design approval. We submit drawings, material certificates, and load calculations on your behalf.

Factory Inspection & Testing

The society surveyor witnesses factory acceptance testing (FAT), hydraulic pressure testing, and functional testing at our manufacturing partner's facility.

Certificate Issued with Equipment

Upon successful inspection and testing, the classification society issues the type approval certificate. Delivered with the equipment as part of your documentation package.

Standards We Follow

All SharkJaw equipment is designed and tested in accordance with applicable international maritime standards. Our manufacturing partners are familiar with the survey requirements of each major classification society.

SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea)

Applicable IMO conventions governing deck equipment and safety systems on commercial vessels.

IMO MSC Guidelines

Maritime Safety Committee guidelines for towing and mooring equipment, including load calculations and structural requirements.

Classification Society Rules

Each society's specific Rules for Machinery and Equipment, including hydraulic system requirements and material grade specifications.

ISO Standards

ISO 4413 (hydraulic fluid power), ISO 9001 (quality management), and relevant material standards for structural steel and alloy components.
